The Apartment in Campo Grande, located next to the garden of the University of Lisbon and the Colégio Moderno, sits in one of the greenest and most historic areas of the city, characterised by the former palacetes of Campo Grande and the centuries-old trees planted at the end of the eighteenth century. This central and tranquil area, highly valued for both family living and student accommodation, benefits from excellent accessibility, cultural amenities and proximity to the university campus.

The concept was to create a true “holiday home within the city”. The patio became the main feature of the project: a monochromatic, white and abstract space where the southwest light reflects on the pool and projects itself into the interior of the house. The visual presence of the large trees from the surrounding gardens reinforces this atmosphere, making it appear as though nature enters the patio and creating a rare sense of urban retreat in the heart of Lisbon.

From this contemporary patio, the entire interior intervention unfolds, transforming the apartment into a fully renovated two-bedroom home, with complete renewal of infrastructures and finishes. The project prioritises materials such as varnished pine flooring and Estremoz marble in the wet areas, while keeping walls and carpentry neutral to highlight light and materiality. The result is a small apartment with maximum spatial efficiency that is reborn in the centre of the city, offering a new way of living that breathes the serenity of a holiday home while preserving the landscape memory of historic Campo Grande.
