The project consists of a rehabilitation and long-term care clinic in Carcavelos. Designed according to principles of sustainable construction, its organic form integrates with the terrain, radiating from a circular central space defined by a reflecting pool. This element creates a microclimate that protects all units from the high-traffic road to the north, while ensuring a seamless transition into the urban landscape to the south, characterised by residential buildings ranging from 4 to 11 storeys.

The preliminary programme includes an internal treatment clinic, an external long-term care clinic, a pharmacy, and a chapel. The facility is supported by an indoor/outdoor restaurant and interior parking. Surrounding the building are landscaped gardens, defined by a network of recreational paths with diverse vegetation, materials, and water features that envelop the entire structure.

The project’s core activity is the provision of Palliative Healthcare Services, with an installed capacity of 120 beds and their corresponding support functions. The main building houses a wide range of complementary services, including outpatient consultations, physical medicine and rehabilitation, diagnostic support services, technical training, technological development, a day centre, home-care support, a chapel, and a restaurant.
